Quality, Environment, Health & Safety Assistant

Our client based in Thamesmead has a part-time opportunity (24 hours) for an experienced Quality, Environment, Health & Safety Assistant to join their friendly team on a permanent basis.

A diligent, career minded part time Quality, Environment, Health & SafetyAssistant (2 years relevant experience and NEBOSH qualified would be an advantage) is required to join our small and friendly team in South East London. Established for over 130 years, our Company supplies its products to an international customer base and islooking to strengthen elements of its internal systems and procedures. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the QHSE manager in maintaining the organisations QHSE processes and procedures to ensure the organisation maintains its accreditations (ISO 9001-2015, ISO 14001-2015, ISO 45001:2018, & BRC for packaging materials.)
  • Ensuring Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental policies and procedures are followed and implemented.
  • Liaising with Customers and Suppliers regarding QHSE matters where necessary ensuring their expectations are met.
  • Conducting Health and Safety Inspections.
  • Carrying out accidents/incidents Investigations and reporting as required and ensuring corrective actions are taken to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Carrying out risk assessments and conducting periodic risk assessments reviews when required and ensuring corrective actions from risk assessments are carried out in a timely manner and evidence of implementation communicated to the relevant workforce and recorded.
  • Assisting with conducting Internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of the management systems and procedures, including identifying and assisting with implementing improvements.
  • Carrying out root cause analyses and ensuring complaints are closed in a timely manner.
  • Assisting with the Coordination and administration of the organisations training includingmonitoring training needs.
  • Assisting with managing, monitoring and reporting the QHSE performance of the organisation to its interested parties according to agreed standards.
  • Assisting with reporting on changes in relevant legislations and changes in standards.
  • Assisting in ensuring statutory inspections are carried out in a timely manner and any observations/ improvements carried out as when specified.

Key Relationships:

  • (Internal) QHSE Manager, Directors,Maintenance Manager,Departmental Managers/Supervision, Health & Safety Reps & the Production Team.
  • (External)Regulatory Authorities, Certification bodies, External Auditors, Customers and Suppliers.

Personal attributes and skills:

  • Ideally 2 years + experience in Health & Safety administration
  • Working knowledge ISO accredited quality management systems
  • Some experience of auditing
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Computer skills including MS Word and Excel

Salary:

Pro rata up to £25K - £40K (pro-rata) dependent upon experience, permanent role

28 days annual leave (pro-rata) including bank holidays

Part-time hours can be flexible, three full days to be worked between Monday-Friday, 24hrs per week, days of work can be agreed at interview stage
