Junior Quality Assurance Assistant

Our client based in Barking is looking for Junior Quality Assurance Assistant to join their friendly team. Working in the factory, across multiple departments,

you will be responsible for ensuring our daily quality checks are completed to enable us to produce our products in compliance with food safety, legislation, customer demand and quality requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare boot wash baths and product dipping baths in all areas prior to production.
  • Check concentration levels of chemical baths as per schedule, replacing or topping up as required to maintain critical limit of chemicals.
  • Carry out checks of metal detectors to verify they are functioning correctly.
  • Factory checks such as weight checks, temperature checks.
  • Complete necessary paperwork to record checks and any corrective actions.
  • Assist with preparation for audits, and completion of factory-based corrective actions.
  • Support Technical Manager with investigations.
  • Deputise for other members of the department during holidays and absences.
  • Complete projects set by the Technical Manager.

Measures and KPIs:

  • Customer complaints and feedback
  • Completing tasks within agreed timescales
  • Customer, internal and external audits
  • Checks completed in full, and non-compliance escalated
  • Microbiological testing of product and environment
  • Product recall and withdrawal

Knowledge, Competencies, abilities and skills:

  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment (essential)
  • Quality Management Systems
  • HACCP knowledge
  • Food Safety knowledge
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

Qualifications:

  • Food safety level 2
  • HACCP level 2

Other Attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels (from operative level to senior management level).
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, effective planner, attention to detail, multitask, meeting deadlines.
  • Assertive, proactive with good project management and administration skills.
  • Adequate reading/writing English

Working Hours:

5 out of 6 days (Sunday to Friday. Days set by Manager.) - 40 hours per week OR 6 days (Sunday to Friday) – 48 hours per week
Core Hours 7.30am – 4pm

A flexible approach to hours will be required as there may be occasion when it is necessary to work additional hours as dictated by the workload and engagement activities.

Finishing time should be flexible during busy periods to ensure duties are completed in full.
